How to Refresh Your Living Room

Spending time in the same room year after year with little change are little depressing. It is always fun to keep the look of your home modern and fresh. You want to have a living room that is inviting to you, your family, and your guests. However, you might not have the time or money to do a complete makeover to the living room. There are a few things that you can do to make the room more appealing to everyone.

Paint the walls, or one wall, a bold colour. Of course, you want the bold colour to compliment the colours that you already have. If your living room is smaller, a lighter colour can open the room up more. If you would like a splash of colour but do not want the room to drown in the colour, opt for painting one or two opposing walls the colour that you want to add. You are very surprised at how different a room looks with a new colour on the walls.

Consider a new floor covering for the room. Adding an area rug to the room can mix it up a little, but for a more dramatic look, make the floor look entirely different. For a warmer look, carpeting and large rugs are ideal. If you love the look of bare floors, consider hardwood coverings or similar options. If you have a lot of heavy foot traffic in the area, you may want to install thin carpeting or hard floor options.

Rearrange the furniture. This sounds simple enough, but rearranging the room are very effective in changing the look of the room. It can also help you spot the furniture that you do not need and can free up some extra space. Make sure your furniture focuses on or centers on that place.

Swap out some of your decorations for new ones. Make sure your new decorations have some colour that co-ordinates or matches with the colours that you have in the living room. You do not have to buy brand new items. You can either paint your old decorations or choose new frames for the pictures in your room, or you can shop used items to find new gems that you would like to show off.

Consider purchasing a new piece of furniture. One single piece of new furniture can transform a room. Of course, if you do not have the money to buy new furniture, you might want to consider upholstering the furniture that you do have. Pick matching draperies to highlight the new furniture or fabric that you have used to upholstery your old furniture.

When you have a new look to your living room. Doing a little bit at a time is more cost efficient and not so overwhelming. The look of your living room will impress you and may even feel like you have added an entire new room to your home.
