If you are thinking about planning a wedding then you have to think about theming carefully to make sure that people aren't appalled by the theme when they turn up. The way to do things is to theme only a few elements to the wedding.
Keep the main elements the same, unless you want to go a little crazy with the theming. You should be wearing a white dress, and the wedding party should have traditional wear, but you can change some of the colors.
If you want to change some elements of the wedding to make it more unique from other weddings, then read on for some more ideas.
Plan a budget
Ask yourself the question. How much can you afford? If you think you are falling too short it may be an idea to consult the bank or give daddy a call. When you have a clear sum in your head spend some time creating a list of what you need and how much of your budget you are going to allocate to each thing. Be realistic with your figures, and therefore you may need to do some research to get an idea of how much everything is going to cost. However, once you have set you budget be strict on yourself and don't sway! If you are realistic from the beginning you should have no problem sticking to it.
Choose your rings
The rings will be the focal point of the wedding. Everyone will want to see them. That is why you might want to be a little different with them. Everyone has the gold band, but maybe you would like to have something specially made for you. You should look at designers and artisans from different countries. They might have beliefs that suit you better and you might be honored to wear a ring that is made by them. They might not have the traditional look to them, but you can bet that no one else in the world will have the same rings as you.
Find a venue
This is of course if you have a date in mind. Yet more often then not unless your are planning your wedding day years in advance, the availability of the venue will most probably drive the date of your wedding. When you have your venue and ceremony booked you will have the foundations of your wedding day in place. Be mindful that not all venues come with over night accommodation so if this is something needed for you and your guest, then you will also have to make sure that this is arranged in advance.
Get choosing your wedding wear
This is probably the most exciting bit of planning a wedding for a bride... time to choose the dress. Have a colour scheme in mind so that your bridesmaid, pageboys and the groom match.
Inviting your guests
You probably have a pretty good idea of the amount of people that you want to attend your wedding when you book your venue. But now you need to create a list and start sending out invitations. First of all start with the people that are the closest to you (for example, family members, maid of honours, best men, bridesmaids, page boys etc) and then work outwards to friends and so forth. If you follow this you should not leave anybody important out! You should send out your invitations a minimum of eight weeks before your wedding. However you are best sticking to the cliché 'the sooner the better' to ensure that you have given everybody enough notice for them to attend.
Presents
When you have people in your wedding party, like bridesmaids, best men and ushers, then it is custom to get them a gift for being there for you. Most people just buy the men some form of tie clip, cufflinks or their favorite drink. However, you can get a bit creative with the bridesmaid's gifts. You can get them some form of unique gift that no one else will have. You could find a company that will make you some soft of jewelry item. They will appreciate all the effort that you have put into it and they will cherish the item forever.
Book a photographer
There will be so many beautiful moments on your wedding day that you will want to treasure forever. Arrange a photographer who can capture these moments. However, make sure you do some research into your photographer, ask for a portfolio of previous wedding shoots. You do not want to be involved in one of these horror stories whereby couples are only left with blurred and useless photo's of their special day.
Plan the honeymoon
Your honeymoon should be a blissful and perfect first few weeks of marriage. Get down to your local travel agents early in order to avoid disappointment. It is best to change your name on your passport after you get back. But make sure that both passports have more than six months validity on them. If either of your passports look to be running out soon get a new passport sooner rather than later. Make sure that you fully research the place that your are going. Ask yourself will you need a visa, or a jab for example. Preparing for things like this will ensure that you can get to your desired location without any problems. The worst thing that could happen is flying to another airport and getting sent back home because you don't have a simple thing like a visa.
Apply the finishing touches
This includes flowers, food, cakes and cars! These all need to be arranged well in advance. First all make sure your flowers and decorations are colour co-ordinated and meaningful. Remember that sometimes less is more! Think about the wedding cake you would like to eat and also little things like which song you would like for your first dance. And finally, you need to get your wedding car sorted out. You wedding car is a great finishing touch which can add sophistication to your day. Why not ride in a Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow, or a Daimler Limousine?
